What We Do

We provide production ready plugin software for the 3d rendering community, alongside support and look development.

A "shader" is a specific name for a type of plugin to a 3d renderer that can customize anything from color, shading, lighting, displace geometry, texture support, and so much more. We have 10+ years of experience in big budget high end feature film production developing custom "shaders" to such studios as Disney, Sony Pictures, and Industrial Light + Magic.

Consulting

If you are looking for a specific look that is either photo-realistic or artistically stylized, is ready for production, and can be tailored to your artists' needs, please contact us with any questions you might have. If you don't have the budget for your own R&D team to create this type of custom software for your feature film production, commercial, or any 3d CG rendering, our shaders will minimize your cost since they are production ready and many of them already developed, with further customization if desired. We have succesfully created custom shading software in RenderMan, Arnold, and Nuke for many clients internationally, and would be happy to talk to you about your custom needs.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What renderers do you support? We support Pixar's RenderMan, and Autodesk/SolidAngle's Arnold for our custom shaders. We also have custom plugins for Foundry's Nuke compositing software, making the renderer agnostic.

What 3d Digital Content Creators (DCCs) do you support? Our plugins are specific to the 3d renderer (Arnold, RenderMan, ...), so whatever 3d DCC you have (Maya, Katana, Houdini, Blender, ...) that supports the renderer, our plugins will work in that. There is no special difference to load any plugin in Maya vs Katana etc.

Can we get a demo of your Stylized NPR Shaders? We are focusing on custom studio feature film projects with our NPR shaders, so don't offer them currently to individuals or for demos. If you are a studio that's interested, please contact us at info@lollipopshaders.com and we can setup an in person meeting or video conference call to find out your needs, show you demos of recent material that isn't online.

How does a site license work for your Stylized NPR Shaders? If you are a studio and we've assessed your needs from an initial in person meeting or video conference call, we setup a Phase 1 licensing agreement that is customized to your specific look, and license a suite of shaders (in RenderMan, Arnold, Nuke). Included in the licensing package is support: we support you during the evaluation by setting up the shaders to your specific pipeline, provide feedback, and documentation. If further custom development is required, we go into further phases to develop custom RenderMan, Arnold, or Nuke plugins that we program in C++ and/or other languages.

Do you have more examples for your Stylized NPR Shaders? Yes, we have more current work that is not online that was shown at various conferences (FMX, Spark, Siggraph, private studio presentations), and we can show that and other work over a video call, or an in-person presentation.

What is the cost to license your plugins and service? We don't have a "rack rate" because each project is so different, especially in Stylized NPR rendering there are so many different directions it can go in, different tools to use, over different platforms. If there is interest we do a call to find out the desired look, then what tools would be appropriate, and if we move forward we do a Phase 1 where we test your assets with the tools and show you, then if decide to go to a Phase 2 site licensing we discuss the specifics then.
